Important Information for the Start of Softball Season

22 Feb by James Lambert (Head Coach)

As we gear up for an incredible season ahead, I want to share some important details regarding our schedule and what to expect in the coming weeks.

Firstly, please bear with us during the initial weeks as we navigate shared facilities with baseball and track. We’ll be using the batting cages alongside baseball and the turf football field with track until our softball field is ready for use. This may cause some adjustments to our schedule, but we’re committed to making it work seamlessly.

Here’s what you need to know for the first couple of weeks:

Player Evaluations: We’ll be holding three days of evaluations from Monday to Wednesday, with team assignments announced during Thursday’s practice. Currently, we have 24 players registered for the season, and our goal is to be a no-cut sport. We’re aiming to have a minimum of 26 players to form two teams, so we encourage another 2-4 players to sign up before we close registration.

Practice Schedule: We’ll start each day on the field at 4:00 pm (with the team room open earlier) and aim to finish no later than 6:30 pm. Please ensure your student arrives on time and is equipped with appropriate clothing for all weather conditions. As daylight savings happens and we get better weather, our practice times will be more consistent.

- Clothing and Equipment: Players will need tennis shoes for the cages, turf football field, and gym, as well as cleats specifically for the softball field. I have some spare cleats available if needed. Additionally, having their own mitt is also highly recommended as the ones we have to borrow are not the best. Do not go out and get a bat as we have plenty for everyone to use. Players should practice in softball gear (pants, socks, tee), though newcomers can come in active wear initially.

First Weeks Schedule:
Monday: Combined Day with a 4:00 pm team meeting in the team room, followed by warm-ups and activities on the football field at 5:00 pm. Parent Meeting at 6:00pm in the team room.
Tuesday: Batting cages
Wednesday: Turf football field.
Thursday: Batting cages with team assignments.
Friday: First team practice with uniform handouts.
Saturday: Varsity practice from 9:00 am to 11:00 am starting in the cages.
Sunday: Mandatory team photos for all players at 11:00 am in the main gym, team room will be open at 10am.

Please mark your calendars accordingly and ensure your student is present for all scheduled activities, including Sunday’s team photo session.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me directly. Let’s make this season one to remember!
